ECMWF wave forecasts for WMO

ECMWF has now made a range of marine forecast products available to WMO Members. They are provided particularly to support severe weather marine forecasting.

Forecasts of significant wave height and mean wave direction and period are provided out to seven days from the ECMWF deterministic forecast system. In addition, probabilities of significant wave height exceeding 2, 4, 6, and 8 metres out to six days are available from the ECMWF Ensemble Prediction System. The forecasts can be found on the ECMWF web site:

The shading shows the significant wave height in metres. The arrows show the direction of the waves (the length of the arrow also corresponds to the significant wave height)
