Profile
Summary:

I am a senior scientist at ECMWF and joined in 2011 to create the 'OpenIFS' project. I manage the OpenIFS project which provides the OpenIFS model, a version of the ECMWF Integrated Forecast System (IFS) to universities and research institutes for research and education.

I am part of the IFS section and work closely with other scientists in the research department and across ECMWF. I also work closely with scientists in other institutes who are working with OpenIFS.

For more information about OpenIFS please see the link to the right.

Career background:

I studied physics, atmospheric dynamics and physics at Imperial College, London and then completed a PhD in numerical modelling in meteorology at the university of Edinburgh. I then went to the university of Cambridge to eventually become a NCAS senior scientist. I worked on topics such as ozone depletion, stratospheric dynamics and tropospheric chemistry, tracer transport, and oversaw the development of the Cambridge off-line chemistry model, chemical mechanism solvers, and created and managed the IUPAC chemical kinetics database and website on behalf of the IUPAC subcommittee on kinetics.
